This Is It, Folks

This is the last post. I've gotten tired of blogging, and as I never have much to say, I've decided to give it a rest for a while. I may start back up at some point, but I doubt it'll be anytime soon.

In the mean time, you can of course feel free to email me. I would love the correspondence, and am generally pretty good about writing back.

I'll leave this up for the rest of the week, but after that I'm going to take it down. So take this moment to savor the archives, if you like, and take a lone last look at etoanshirdlu.

Bye!

Gilligan And Me

I forgot to talk about Scotland, Pennsylvania. Scotland, PA is the last town we could pull off the road into when they closed the interstate on Saturday. The ground and the sky were the same dirty white, and it was impossible to tell where one began and the other ended. It was time to stop driving.

Anyway, we ended up passing the entire day in the Comfort Inn. We walked over to the McDonalds next to the motel and bought a bunch of cheeseburgers and chicken sandiwiches, because were afraid that they would close and all we would have would bethe aging girlscout cookies his mom gave us before we left K-town. When we got back to the room, we discovered that the only thing on TV was a cycle or Halloween sequels.

I've never been stranded before. The novelty wore off pretty quickly, but it was very interesting to have a day that was completely lost. Like, totally gone. Nothing but TV and fast food (the buns solidify after a little while... it's weird) mixed with a little dominoes and anime.

And We're Back

Hi folks. I'm back. Back at school, I mean. Sorry I was so present/absent during the break. I had stuff to think about and it was kinda time consuming. Plus I was with family.

Anyway, the nes senester promises all kinds of new challenging but fun things. Apart from Intro to American Studies (What is the American identity/how does/did it form?) , everything is focusing on Japan. I'm taking the language, a history class, and a class on anime, which promises much fun and possibly an explanation of what actually happens in Evangelion.

Today I got my books and have returned to the dorm to do some serious hiding out because it's 18 degrees out. Oh yeah.

Four...Three...Two...

I can't wait for the semester to end. Thank god it's in less than two weeks. In the mean time, I have so much to do that it's pushed me through to the other side to inertia. It'll all get done, but it's still troubling.

It snowed today. Only a few inches, but it's pretty. I wrote a story in Japanese about a butterfly that falls in love with a singing fish. In the end, it dies. But I sure rocked the Japanese.

An All-By-Herself Night

Both myself and my Gentleman Friend got the pleasure of waking up in horrible moods this morning. You know, the kind where you don't want it to be today, don't want to get up and really don't want to hear about the other person's problems. So in the car this morning we both decided to take a night off from seeing each other (we've been together in one way or another every day for the past week and a half) and get ourselves in order. It seemed (and seems) a much better solution than fighting over nothing. And anyway, we both have a lot of work to do.

My story is happening... but slowly. I think it may turn out to be the best and longest thing I've ever written. I like my idea a lot, I just hope I can do it justice. My narrative is rusty. But we'll see. I mean, it does include a vision of man-eating and/or cannibalistic butterflies. I think that's pretty cool.

And Now

Thanksgiving was wonderful. Totally awesome. I saw people I hadn't seen in a while, and a surfer movie in the Haight. Pretty cool, I think.

I started writing a story today, for the first time in ages. I doubt it will ever be finished, just like all the others, but whatever. At least it's something.

Knew The Job Was Dangerous When I Took It

Been thinking a lot lately about gender and power, and where female power comes from in particular. It's intersting stuff.

Dude, it's for school.

Boy, college is a life-sucker. The pace over here is gruelling, folks. I have a paper due tomorrow, just a few hours before I take off for New York and thence to PA (hooray!). I also have to clean and pack. Eep. But it's nuts. We work hard on a project, and before we even finish saying congratulations on a job well done, the next thing is on its way.

Oh, well, back to work.
